Beekeeping Tour Highlights

During the last weekend of June, we had the pleasure of an inspiring hands-on beekeeping tour led by Dave and OraLee Branch of Mt. Hood Honey Co.! From explaining the intricacies of beehive components and bee behavior to demonstrating honey extraction and bottling, Dave guided us through the essentials of beekeeping—fascinating, essential, and often sprinkled with amusing surprises. Dave and OraLee hosted us at their charming local apiary, where they have been caring for hives for over five years, gaining many sweet learning moments along the way. A big thank you to Dave and OraLee for sharing their knowledge and passion, and to everyone who joined us in exploring and celebrating the world of beekeeping! This tour also highlighted the vital importance of preserving farmland for growing and maintaining a healthy food system, reminding us that our food supply depends on these beautiful pollinators.
